The primary campaign is winding down as
we approach the Tuesday August 10
primary election day. As you are well
aware, elections are about choices. If
you have not yet decided for whom you
are going to vote in the race for State
Comptroller we ask you to consider the
information below.
CHOICE # 1 (FILL IN
OVAL 4B)
Mike Jarjura is in his fifth term as
Waterbury Mayor. He previously served
10 years in the Connecticut House of
Representatives and has also served as
an Assistant Attorney General in
Connecticut. He is a lifetime resident
of Connecticut. As many of you are
aware, Connecticut's fiscal problems are
growing worse. Mayor Jarjura has
drastically turned around the fiscal and
economic situation of the city of
Waterbury. He turned a city that was on
the brink of bankruptcy with nearly
a 100 million dollar deficit, one half a
billion dollars in unfunded liabilities,
and a junk bond status, into one of the
most highly-rated, fiscally responsible
cities in the state-with A-rated bonds,
no deficits, funded liabilities, and a
rainy fund-all with no loss in city
services, or layoffs. As Comptroller,
he will bring that same energy and
responsibility to get
Connecticut's fiscal house in order.

Kevin Lembo has been nothing but a press
spokesperson for the Comptroller. He
then was appointed to head a very tiny
state government office. As a
bureaucrat he has had few real
responsibilities or had no impact, doing
nothing to prevent the state's fiscal
decline or the rapid rise in insurance
rates and insurance company profits.
Lembo for many years was the Chief of
Staff for a right-wing Republican Lt.
Governor in New York. His Republican
boss was the leading Republican opponent
to both President Clinton's and
President Obama's health care
reform-accusing President Obama of
proposing death panels for seniors.
This same Republican politician, that he
served as chief of staff for, actively
opposed racial integration, supported
greater restrictions on a woman's right
to choose, worked directly with Big
Tobacco to kill reform and is advocating
raising the eligibility age for Medicare
to 70 on national television.
Lastly, twice Kevin Lembo was taken to
court for not paying his bills. How can
we put a man in charge of paying the
states bills, who has a problem paying
his own debts?
The choice is clear! On election day
fill in the oval on your ballot
for Democrat Mike Jarjura (4B).
If you are not able to come out to vote
on August 10th, be sure to contact your
local Town Clerk's office for an
absentee ballot application or you can
call the Jarjura Headquarters at (203)
596-1398 and we will put an application
in the mail for you.

| Connecticut Needs A Watch Dog!
|
As state comptroller, Mike Jarjura will bring the same financial expertise to
Connecticut that he used to pull Waterbury out of its Financial Crisis! As
Mayor, Mike Jarjura:
- Turned Waterbury's $95 million debt into a surplus that amounts to more than
the entire state of Connecticut.
- Balanced the budget! Waterbury is about to
post its 10th consecutive balanced budget which has returned millions of dollars
to the taxpayers.
- Took Waterbury's "junk" bond rating and brought Waterbury
into "A" level ratings with all three credit agencies even while Connecticut's
ratings continued to drop.
- Reformed the pension plan from unfunded and liable
for over $400 million dollars into a plan that is 70% funded and has its assets
protected.
- Received two "Certificates of Excellence in Financial Reporting" and
is one of only two communities in Connecticut to receive a "strong" rating.
