Michael J. Jarjura — Mayor
Michael "Mike" Jarjura (D-Waterbury) was elected Mayor of the City of Waterbury in November 2001. He is currently serving in his 3rd term as Mayor, having been re-elected in November 2003 and 2005. Mayor Jarjura is credited with bringing financial stability back to the City of Waterbury, which was on the brink of bankruptcy when Mayor Jarjura took the Oath of Office. Mayor Jarjura is also credited for bringing honor and trust to the government of the City which had been rocked by political and government scandals and wrongdoing. [more]

Antoinette Spinelli — Town Clerk
Antoinette "Chick" Spinelli has served as Town Clerk since 2002 and the Registrar of Vital Statistics since 2003. Chick lives in Town Plot with her husband William and their three children – Frank, Anthony and LuAnn. Chick is a member of the Connecticut Town Clerks Association, International Institute of Municipal Clerks, Lions Club, Unico Club, and the Town Plot Neighborhood Association. Chick was the owner of Chick's Coffee House in Town Plot and the parish Secretary at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She is a graduate of Kennedy High School and a certified Connecticut Town Clerk.

Michael Dalton — City Clerk
Michael Dalton has been City Clerk since 2005. Michael worked for the State of Connecticut in a Supervisor position and graduate from Central Connecticut State Univeristy. He was an Army Sergeant during the Vietnam War era. Michael is a running coach for the CT Libra Running Team, on the YMCA Board of Directors and a former business member of the Waterbury Regional Chamber. He is a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and Waterbury YMCA. Michael was born in Ireland and now resides in the East End.

Stephen Conway — City Sheriff
Stephen Conway has been the City Sheriff for the past 6 years. He is a member of the Brooklyn Neighborhood Association, East Mountain Neighborhood Association, Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Democratic Town Committee. Stephen is the some of former state representative and Mrs. Thomas Conway. Stephen works of the State Department of Transportation and part time for the Delinks-Conway Funeral Home. He is single and lives in the Brooklyn section of the city.

Paul Pernerewski, Jr. — Board of Aldermen
Paul Pernerewski grew up in Town Plot and lives in Bunker Hill with his wife, Kim, and three sons. He currently serves as Aldermanic Majority Leader, as Chairman of the Waterbury Development Authority, Chairman of the City Plan Steering Committee, and as a member of the Zoning Commission, the Waterbury Development Corporation, and the Palace Theater Board. He previously served as Chairman of the 2002 Charter Revision Commission, Chairman of the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Commission on Civil Service and Human Resources, and as a member of the Public Works Board. He earned his B.S., summa cum laude, in Business Administration from UConn and his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University. Paul has been Assistant Attorney General since 1986.

Anthony Piccochi — Board of Alderman
Anthony Piccochi is a member of the Board of Alderman since 2004. He is married to Celia Ricco and has three children – Anthony, Jr., Rayonne, and Christina. He is a member of the Pontelandolfo Club, Washington Hill Athletic Club, Bunker Hill Neighborhood Association, and Our Lady of Loretta Church. Tony is a former member of the Mt. Carmel Parish Council and Sacred Heart High School Board of Directors. He has received awards from both the Olympian Club and the Sportsman Club for his services to athletics.

Joyce Petteway — Board of Alderman
Joyce Petteway was elected to the Board of Aldermen in 2007 after serving six years on the Board of Education. Since taking office in Jan 2000, she has served as Chair of Grants, School Activities, Finance, Transportation and School Activities committees. She is employed as an Investment Technician at the State of CT Treasury in the debt management division which runs Connecticut's debt service payments, cash-flow borrowing and maintains the state's rating agency programs. Ms. Petteway deals with a lot of law, public administration, finance, and organizational work. As an investmentment technician, Ms. Petteway is responsible for the coordination of the State's Tax Exempt Proceeds Fund Program through which $3 billion dollars of cash out-flows to all cities, towns, school districts, grant funded projects and programs which are appropriated from bond funds. Joyce has over 30 years of experience in government finance.

Anne Phelan — Board of Alderman
Anne Phelan has served on the Board of Alderman since 2005. She is employed at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain and works as the director of volunteer services. She volunteers with the Hospital Board of Directors and New Britain Public Library Board of Directors. Anne has a master degree from the University of New Haven and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Connecticut. She has 15 years experience in human resources.

Alberto Negron — Board of Alderman
Al Negron, a native of Bridgeport, moved to Waterbury 13 years ago after the birth of his son to be closer to family. Prior to that he served three terms on the Bridgeport City Council. He was appointed to the Board of Aldermen in 2008.
Al Negron has worked for the Connecticut State Legislature for the last 17 years, most recently as a press aide to 13 Democratic members of the House of Representatives. He brings a broad range of state legislative experience to the board.

Francis Caiazzo Jr. — Board of Alderman
Francis "Frankie" Caiazzo Jr. is a lifelong Waterbury resident. He grew up in the Brooklyn and Town Plot neighborhoods. He currently live in Bunker Hill with his wife Kathy. They have two daughters, Kelly (25) and Jaimie (23). Frankie is one of the owners of Frankie's Enterprises, which controls Frankie' Hot Dogs and Big Franks BBQ. He is a former member of the Board of Aldermen serving from 2001 to 2005. He has previously served on the Charter Revision Committee and Land Use Committee. He currently is a member of the Silas Bronson Library Board of Agents. Frankie served three years in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Ernest M. Brunelli — Board of Alderman
Ernie Brunelli, a member of the Zoning Commission since 2004, is a retired State Police Sergeant, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Western Connecticut State University. Ernie also is a member of the American Vets, the VFW Auxiliary and holds an eighth degree black belt. He lives in Town Plot.

Joseph Begnal, Jr. — Board of Alderman
Joe Begnal is a lifelong resident of Waterbury with a long history in education and athletics, having served as Director of Athletics for Waterbury High Schools before becoming Vice Principal at Wilby High School. Begnal is an inductee into the Anderson Boy's Club Coaches Hall of Fame, and Olympian Club. He and his wife Terry have two children, Breanna and Joey.

Ronald Napoli, Jr. — Board of Alderman
Ron Napoli Jr., is a lead teacher in Wilby's early intervention program which reaches out to the most at-risk students. Although this is his first run for elective office, Ron has been involved in city government and campaigns since he was a child, and worked for his first mayoral campaign in 1991. He has a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport and a Bachelor's Degree in European History from Salve Regina University. Ron also is a member of the Popntelandolfo Club, the Bunker Hill Neighborhood Association and serves on the Board of Park Commissioners.

Karen Harvey — Board of Education
Karen Harvey atttended Walsh and Slocum Grammar Schools and Crosby High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic and her Master's Degree in Management from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. Karen is currently employed with Neopost USA as a call center supervisor. She serves as Third Vice President of the Greater Waterbury NAACP. She also serves as Treasurer of the Waterbury Black Democratic Club. Karen is a long-time advocate for education in Waterbury. She has a passion for education and is looking forward to continuing her mission of being a vital part of the educational process in Waterbury. She strongly believes that education is an investment. Karen also has been involved in the Granville Academy, and is an officer on the church Steward Board for the Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church.

Coleen Flaherty-Merritt — Board of Education
Coleen is seeking her second term on the Board of Education and is currently a chemistry teacher in Regional School District 15. She holds a Master's Degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor's Degree from Southern Connecticut State University.
As a teacher, Coleen not only understand but utilitizes current educational practices daily. Her professional experience in a school helps her to make sound decisions on the Board, and bring an outside perspective to issues that are addressed in the school system. During the past four years, Coleen has worked diligently to help ensure Waterbury's children are provided a quality education.
Coleen is a lifelong resident of Waterbury and a product of the Waterbury school system. She lives in Bunker Hill with her husband Brendan and their son Logan.

Jose Morales — Board of Education
Jose Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He moved to Waterbury at the age of 15 and attended Waterbury public schools and graduated from Wilby High school. Jose received his Associates Degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College. Jose is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. His work experience includes seven years at the Family Service of Greater Waterbury Inc., where he helped families to get out of poverty in the welfare to work system, New Opportunities Inc. as HIV/AIDS worker and also as a mentor for Alliance Staffing Agency. He serves as a board member for different organizations such as the Loyola Development Corp, and volunteers providing medical interpretation and assists with functions at Sacred Heart Church.
